Our selection of solid woods includes both traditional, or unfinished, and prefinished varieties. Prefinished hardwood flooring is self-explanatory, as the wood comes from the factory already sealed. The wood, in addition, is usually beveled on two or all sides. The benefit of using prefinished wood flooring is installation. As the wood doesn’t need to be finished or sealed after laying it out, the hardwood floor is already to use as soon as it has been installed. Prefinished hardwood flooring is ideal for replacing an entire floor, but for replacing only part of your floor, traditional hardwood is still recommended to match and seal everything together.
If you’re considering replacing a worn floor with prefinished hardwood flooring, our store carries various domestic woods. More specifically, this includes hickory, red and white oak, pecan, cherry, and maple. As prefinished oak flooring is fairly common, our selection of hardwood flooring prefinished includes standard sawn and rift and quarter sawn wood. The latter is done mostly for aesthetic reasons, as wood that has been rift and quarter sawn often has a different but more even patina. Such features of this include medullary rays and wavy patterns in the grain. The wood in this case is cut into quarters and additional cuts for the lumber are made parallel to the tree’s rings.
Whether you choose prefinished hickory wood flooring or oak flooring, domestic wood prefinished typically costs more than traditional wood. However, this is to be expected, as prefinished wood flooring leaves out most of the labor that comes with finishing and sealing a floor. If you’re looking for high-quality domestic wood and want to reduce any labor or maintenance costs associated with installing traditional solid hardwoods, choosing prefinished hardwood flooring allows you to set up a brand new floor with minimal labor.
Although we try extremely hard to provide photographs that accurately depict our many flooring products, the colors shown may vary in color from the actual flooring. This is due to different computer monitor settings that you may be viewing our website on, image quality, transfer quality etc. Our pictures are only meant to help guide you with your color choices as you make your very important flooring decision.
